Kate Bell is a wife, mother of two boys, and a survivor of loss, chronic illness, and the challenges of raising children with mental health conditions such as BPD, ADHD, ODD, and Executive Functioning Disorders. Through her own struggles, Kate has discovered a path to peace amidst the chaos and is passionate about sharing her journey and the valuable lessons she has learned with others.
Kate’s journey has included navigating both inpatient and outpatient mental health programs, giving her a profound understanding of the mental health system and the support available to individuals and families. Despite the challenges she has faced, Kate has remained resilient and focused on helping others who may be walking similar paths.
As the co-founder of THRIVE Parenting Project, Inc., Kate is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive space for families affected by mental illness. Through the organization, she works to provide resources, foster connections, and empower individuals to navigate the complexities of mental health. Kate also co-founded the THRIVE Youth Coalition alongside Jennifer Benjamin, addressing critical community issues such as substance misuse, abuse prevention, and youth mental health.
Kate’s commitment to advocacy extends beyond her nonprofit work. She is a member of 100 Women Who Care of St. Charles, MidValley Mental Health Partnership, The Illinois Prevention Network, Kane County Opioid Task Force, and the Kane County Behavioral Health Council. Her efforts reflect a deep dedication to breaking down the stigma surrounding mental illness and creating a more understanding and supportive community.
Kate believes everyone deserves to live a fulfilling and happy life, and she is devoted to helping others achieve that goal. Her work continues to inspire resilience, hope, and positive change for individuals and families facing mental health challenges.
